With the sponsorship and support of the American Center in Egypt, this year (2018) the mentoring walk in Egypt will be organized by . The theme of the event is “Women in Development”, in which distinguished leaders in developmental organizations will mentor emerging women leaders and potential candidates who aim to work and develop in the development field and civil society organizations but don’t know their way. Through the walk, young women will be familiarized with development organizations contributing to the welfare of the societies, set of skills and competences necessary for a development practitioner, and they will also be guided on how to make their dreams come true and achieve their goals. The walk is also aiming at empowering women and increase their presence and impact in such an important field in Egypt.
The walk will be held in the Smart Village (6th of October city), parallel to the Maker Faire event, on Saturday, March 10th. It will be held from 9 a.m. till 12:30 p.m.
The event will start by registration and networking (over a light breakfast) to ensure a warm atmosphere and break the ice between the mentors and mentees. Then there will be a welcome note by the event’s organizers and guests’ inspirational speeches, guests are expected to be women who significantly contributed to the development field and are encouraging women to play a leading role in their societies.
Afterwards the mentoring walk will take place (Estimated to last for an hour and a half); where each mentor will walk (or sit) through a guided route with his/her mentee and start a constructive conversation.
It’s worth mentioning that a matchmaking process will take place before the event to ensure that the mentor with relevant expertise is mentoring the right mentee, this will be done by the organizers through reviewing the submitted applications by the mentees and the profile of the mentors. Then finally the
event will end up by some closing remarks and a group photo.
